JACKSON, Miss.—Dr. Mark Sherer, a neuropsychologist and director of the neuropsychology department at Methodist Rehabilitation Center, has been named a fellow by the National Academy of Neuropsychology.
Dr. Sherer, a board-certified neuropsychologist and clinical associate professor of neurology and psychiatry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, conducts research and assists with the development of inpatient and outpatient brain injury programs at Methodist Rehab.
He is the principal investigator for two studies on traumatic brain injury (the Traumatic Brain Injury Model System of Mississippi and the Collaborative Study of Impaired Self-awareness After TBI) and the author of over 100 articles, book chapters and abstracts.
He is also the clinical director of Quest, Methodist Rehab’s community-based treatment program designed to help brain-injured patients become as independent as possible and re-enter the workforce.
“We received a record number of applications for NAN fellow status this year and the review process was highly competitive,” said Dr. C. Munro Cullum, fellowship committee chair of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. “This is indeed an honor and reflects Dr. Sherer’s significant contributions to the field of neuropsychology.”
Dr. Sherer is a Tuscumbia, Ala., native. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in general clinical psychology.
