Support Group Meetings Aid in Recovery
Methodist Rehabilitation Center encourages patients and their families to participate in support groups that focus on their illness or injury. Support from others in similar situations greatly benefits patients recovering from neurological or othopedic diseases or disorders. These groups frequently meet at our main campus in Jackson or at our East Campus in Flowood.
Spinal Cord Injury Support Group
The SCI support group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the BankPlus Conference Center on the second floor of Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson. The group also schedules occasional outings to places like Trustmark Park or local bowling centers. This support group is open to all spinal cord injury survivors, their families and caregivers. City-Wide Stroke Support Group
A stroke support group meets monthly at 2 p.m. in the cafeteria at Methodist Specialty Care Center, One Layfair Drive, Flowood. This support group is open to all stroke survivors and their families. This group is a collaborative effort between Methodist Rehabilitation Center, St. Dominic's, Baptist Health Systems, UMMC Stroke Center and Merit Health. West Nile Virus Support Group
A West Nile Virus support group meets quarterly in the BankPlus Conference Center on the second floor of Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson and at LiveWell Center, 5909 U.S. Highway 49 in Hattiesburg. The support group is open to WNV survivors, their families and caregivers. Meetings are from 1-3 p.m. For more information, call Sharon Sims at 601-672-6687.
ALS Support Group
An ALS support group meets every fourth Monday (except for May and December) at 6:30 p.m. in the BankPlus Conference Center located on the second floor of Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson.
